Using YourGMap

The first GMap generator I tried is I created a map called Homesteads which shows locations of the ancesteral homes from my mothers side of the family. If you click Homesteads Draft it will take you to my map hosted by YourGMap.

The interface was staight forward and easy to use. There is no charge for the service. You also have the option of embedding your maps on your webpage rather than accessing them through a link. They give you a bit of html to paste into you webpage and then the map can be displayed directly. I pasted the code into the Edit Html tab of the Blogger Post Editor and got the image you see below:

Using GMap Generators

I'm trying out some of the GMap generators availabe on-line. They use Google Maps, MSN Maps and Yahoo Maps as the base and can overlay street maps with satellite images. The generators allow you to create your own GMap of an area, annotate it pushpin comments for several locations and publish it on your webpage.

I will be trying many of the generators and publishing my results and comments here.
